Navel – Corpus reassembled

A giant navel thrones like the blind eye of birth: a video of a navel projected exactly onto the round volume of childhood. We hear the intake of breath. This installation is to be seen in relation to the navel on the ground, a corpus broken down into small digital pixel squares. A navel that was once cut into pieces and a navel that is intact once again. Reassembling the scattered pieces of navel. The reconstituted, projected digital image. The copy/paste of digital technology quickly changes in the actions of Damien Valero into cutting up/putting back together, fragmenting/rearranging, fractioning/recon-
structing. One is reminded of the fragments of Osiris hastily put back together by Isis, a metaphor-myth for the resurrection of bodies.
